AMERICAN DOUBLE WEAVE COVERLET, dark blue wool and natural cotton, two joined panels, center with an all-over geometric design, four sides with linear border and patterned corner blocks, one end edge with knotted fringe. Late 18th/first quarter 19th century. 69" x 89 1/2" with fringe.
Very good overall with light to moderate toning, a few scattered stains and spotting, top edge possibly rolled and mended, some holes to cotton areas mostly along edges and near center seam, some losses to fringe.
Deaccessioned from the Wilton House Museum collection, Richmond, VA.
