AMERICAN DOUBLE WEAVE COVERLETS, LOT OF TWO,
each dark blue wool and natural cotton, two joined panels; comprising one with a double rose center pattern, each side with single or double grapevine border, three sides with fringe, all corners with "P.K" initials possibly for the maker or the owner of the coverlet; and a partial coverlet, center with a lily-type flower pattern, two sides with a paisley-like and foliate border, lower part cut off.
Second quarter/mid 19th century.
Double-rose coverlet 78" x 87" with fringe; other 78" x 66" OA.
Provenance: Property from a Youngstown, OH estate.
Condition
Double-rose coverlet in fair to good overall condition with toning, stains, scattered holes, center seam restitched with spots of separation, top edge rolled and mended, losses to fringe; other in fair overall condition with some holes and stains, several patches, top edge with wear and tears, lower part unevenly cut off and missing.
