AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A GIRL WITH DOG, oil on canvas, waist-length depiction of figure in high-waisted coral dress, her dark hair adorned with ringlets, her right hand holding the paw of a black-and-white dog beside her, no signature located. Housed in a period, possibly original, gilt frame with elaborate molded-composition ornamentation. Circa 1840. 35 1/2" x 27 1/2" sight, 47" x 39" OA.

Very good overall visual condition with minor craquelure and scattered inpainting. Frame with minor wear and possible restoration, including surface.
