AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN WITH SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION, oil on canvas, three-quarter length depiction of fair-skinned, auburn hair seated figure in elaborate flowing white gown adorned with yellow roses, no signature located. Housed in a period, possibly original, gilt frame with molded-composition ornament. Mid 19th century. 35 1/2" x 27 1/2" sight, 49" x 40" OA.
Provenance: From a Minneapolis, MN private collection.
Catalogue Note: According to the consignor, the present portrait was discovered at a Louisiana plantation.
