AMERICAN STONEWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF THREE, salt-glazed and Albany slip-glazed, comprising one stamped "GEO. W. MILLER / STRASBURG, V[A]" jar, "1" capacity, wide mouth form, one approximately two-gallon capacity beehive-form jug, and one approximately one-gallon wide-mouth example with undeciphered incised script to side. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. Jug 11 3/4" HOA, 8 1/2" DOA.
Good condition overall, Strasburg example with several minor chips to rims, and as-made glaze imperfections; incised example with several minor hairlines to rim radiating into body; jug with hairline crack to handle and scattered surface wear.
Sold to benefit the acquisitions and conservation funds of a private Virginia museum.
