AMERICAN WALDOBORO-TYPE FOLK ART FLORAL HOOKED RUG, rectangular form, center with a vase of flowers having tufted blooms, surrounded by a red acanthus leaf border on dark ground, all four sides with later applied "Those Heavenly Carpets by Lees" binding manufactured by James Lees & Sons Co., which had a plant in Glasgow, Virginia. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. 64" x 30 3/4".
Very good visual condition with some wear, light fading, and toning, a few losses and holes, one corner with a hole and mended patch, binding with fading to top, back with some bleeding of red color of border onto center light-colored ground fabric.
