CONTINENTAL FREE-BLOWN BLACK GLASS BLADDER-FORM DEMIJOHN BOTTLE, dark olive green, tall globular body with somewhat flattened sides tapering back inwards to a narrow base, a so-called "bladder onion" form which also resembles American chestnut flasks, having a kicked-up base without pontil scar, wide neck with thick round applied rim below the sheared and ground unpolished mouth. Probably German or French. First half 18th century. 17 1/2" H.

Condition

Excellent condition with some exterior wear and scratching, also with a narrow 1/2" surface open bubble at midsection on one side, and some roughness at the ground rim, as made.
