E. P. DODGE FONT KEROSENE STAND LAMP, colorless pyriform font, shoulder embossed "E. P. DODGE. 8 TREMONT ST. BOSTON", fluted brass stem with traces of gilt decoration, double-step marble base with cast brass ornamentation, No. 1 fine-line collar. Fitted with a No. 1 C. A. Van Kirk lip burner, thumbwheel marked "C. A. VAN KIRK & CO / PATENT JULY 17 / 1860", spring-loaded set screw for securing the chimney, colorless and frosted globular-form shade with flared top rim, intricately engraved foliage pattern to the medial, colorless cut Colonial-style patterned prisms with brass shoulder support ring. Non-period lip chimney. Third quarter 19th century. 18 3/8" H to top of shade, 12 3/4" H to top of collar, 5 1/4" SQ foot. Shade 7" H, 4 7/8" D fitter.

Condition

Font undamaged and with some interior cloudiness to lower body, marble steps with expected flakes/roughness. Burner and chimney undamaged, shade fitter with a minor flake and some normal as-made roughness, prisms with some minute imperfections.
