EDWARD TOMPKINS WHITNEY (NEW YORK, 1820-1893) SIXTH-PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE PORTRAIT, depicting a young gentleman with his hand in his coat, lightly tinted, liner stamped "WHITNEY" lower left. Housed in its original leather-covered hinged case with a plated-silver plaque to the front. Rochester or New York City. Circa 1850. 3 3/4" x 3 1/4" OA.

Condition

Glass is slightly cloudy on the interior, with corrosion to the liner. Case hinge is nearly broken.
