ENGLISH MAJOLICA HAND-PAINTED CERAMIC CISTERN / JARDINIERE AND STAND, turquoise ground, quatrefoil form having two mythical creatures to each side depicting a bearded figure with curled horns and two finned legs and base having four scrolled feet with mythical open-mouthed horned masks above each. Unmarked. Possibly Minton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Third quarter 19th century. 22 5/8" HOA (cistern/jardiniere and stand).

Condition
Having imperfections including jardiniere with scattered losses including one creature lacking head and having loss to front of scarf wrap at waist, remaining creature having head present but detached and chips to scarf at waist; base having scattered chips and flakes.
