GERMAN CHINA HEAD LARGE LADY DOLL, unmarked, shoulder head, hand-painted facial features including blue eyes, eyebrows, and a pink closed mouth, stuffed Nanking body, jointed at shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees, painted black molded hair in a flat-top style with central part and reverse with six corkscrew curls. Vintage clothing including a brown and green print dress, undergarments, and brown leather shoes. Possibly Hertel, Schwab & Co. Second quarter 19th century. 26" H.

Condition

Good overall condition with expected wear, neck with a diagonal light hairline extending to the edge of the cheek color, some scattered repairs to cloth body, lower arms with an applied varnish. Clothing in very good condition with expected wear, repairs/replacements to shoes.

Deaccessioned by the Wachovia Historical Society to benefit acquisitions and conservation funds.
