GERMAN METTLACH STUDENT JOKE CERAMIC STEIN, mold number 2192, having etched sides with polychrome hand-painted decorations with gilt accents featuring an Etruscan-style night scene featuring figures wearing togas including one holding a pipe with a muzzled dog and one tapping a keg, ceramic inset metal lid featuring etched stars and foliate design and figural head, possibly a jester, thumbrest, music box base, 1/2 liter size. Late 19th/early 20th century. 9" HOA.
