GERMAN METTLACH TRUMPETER LARGE CERAMIC STEIN, GERMAN METTLACH LARGE CERAMIC STEIN, mold number 1562, having etched design with polychrome hand-painted decoration depicting the Trumpeter of Sackingen featuring a gentleman in a feathered hat, his trumpet over his right shoulder, and walking stick in left hand, pewter lid, thumbrest with a shield and cannon motif, 5.65L size. Impressed abbey with "METTLACH / VB" and "GEGEN NACHBILDUNG / GESCHUTZ." marks to base, additional impressed and hand-brushed numerals. Late 19th/early 20th century. 21 1/2" HOA.

Condition
Excellent visual condition, having restoration to lower part of handle and a very minute flake to gilt band below image.
