HENRY LOWNDES (D. 1842) ATTRIBUTED, PETERSBURG, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER, salt-glazed, approximately one-quart capacity, ovoid form with medium neck, pronounced foot, and applied strap handle with thumb-pressed lower terminal. Brushed cobalt floral vine design to shoulder and scalloped decoration to rim, additional cobalt to handle terminals. Attributed to Henry Lowndes, Petersburg, VA. Circa 1840. 6 3/4" HOA, 3 1/2" D rim.
Very good visual condition having a rim hairline and some professional restoration to hairline on rim/neck, spout, and foot.
