HISTORICAL GEORGE WASHINGTON MOURNING PENMANSHIP / CALLIGRAPHY, ink on paper, executed at the "Franklin School / Boston" by "H.S. TIRRILL / BOSTON", featuring cherubs and eagles flanking a central urn with Washington's day of passing, with blind stamp to upper left corner. Housed under glass in a modern frame. After Benjamin O. Tyler, New York, and P. Maverick. 1831. 14" x 19" sight, 23 1/2" x 27 1/2".
Catalogue Note: The Franklin School is mentioned in the Boston Morning Post on 4/11/1832 and 1/14/1832, with a William J. Adams appears in the 1829 Boston Directory as the school's principal, being located in Ward No. 12. 

Condition

Very good overall visual condition, with minor to moderate toning to corners and edge lines, and with very minor tears to corners. Not examined outside of frame.
