JAMES RIVER, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, ovoid form with collared rounded rim and slightly arched tab-like handles. Unusual boldly brushed cobalt scrolling floral decoration on each side, additional cobalt across handles. Probably Samuel Wilson and/or associates, Richmond or Henrico, Virginia. 1817-1850. 11 1/4" H, 6 1/2" D rim.
