NORTH CAROLINA APPLIQUE AND PIECED CHILDREN'S QUILTS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a crib/baby applique quilt made by Maud Kerner Ring of Kernersville, NC, hand- and machine-stitched, featuring white whole cloth fabric with an applied yellow duck motif having embroidered edges and accents, all-over Baptist fan quilting, applied yellow fabric binding, plain whole cloth backing; and a "Checkerboard" pieced child's/youth quilt attributed to Forsyth Co., NC, hand-stitched, 30 pattern on-point blocks with various print and plain fabrics, alternating with plain white blocks, top and bottom edge with border, outline, diagonal grid, and diagonal quilting, applied binding, plain whole cloth backing. Circa 1925. Duck quilt 38" x 53 1/2"; "Checkerboard" quilt 49 1/2" x 72 1/2".
Provenance: From the Ann and Clay Ring family collection, Winston-Salem, NC.

Condition

Duck quilt in very good overall condition with scattered stains and spotting; "Checkerboard" quilt in very good overall condition, top with a few stains, some light fading and toning, one fabric piece in block near center having tears, side edges possibly rolled and mended later, backing with light toning and a few stains.
