PHIL ROGERS (WELSH, 1951-2020) STUDIO POTTERY STONEWARE COVERED JAR, having rich tenmoku glaze with wax resistant finger wipes to body and cover. Impressed "PR" seal to underside. Fourth quarter 20th/early 21st century. 4 5/8" HOA.
Catalogue Note: Born in Newport, South Wales, Phil Rogers was largely a self-taught potter looking to Bernard Leach’s A Potter’s Book for some guidance on the art. He wrote numerous works on pottery techniques including topics such as ash and salt glazes and was a sought-after lecturer especially in the United States and South Korea. Rogers worked at Lower Cefnfaes Farm's Marston Pottery from 1984 until his death in 2020.
