SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA OVERSHOT COVERLETS, LOT OF TWO, navy blue wool and natural cotton, each two joined panels, comprising one in the "Double Bowknot" pattern, and one in the "Pine Bloom" pattern. Second half 19th century. "Bowknot" 67 1/2" x 91"; "Pine Bloom" 69" x 101".
Provenance: From the John H. and Joan S. Byrd estate collection, Harrisonburg, VA.
Descended in the Byrd family.

Condition

"Bowknot" in good overall condition with some toning notably to top and bottom edges, center seam probably restitched with spots of separation, seam also with fraying of edges, some small losses to wool mostly to edges and center seam; "Pine Bloom" in fine to excellent overall condition with a few scattered stains and spotting, minor losses to wool mostly to top and bottom edges.
