STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATTERS, LOT OF FOUR, each having dark blue transfer scenes, comprising one example from the Hunting Series depicting two gentlemen with guns and hunting dogs, having floral and bird border design, one having "FONTHILL ABBEY / WILTSHIRE", as printed to underside rim, depicting a central Gothic Revival structure with a small sailboat on lake in foreground with tree surround border, and two French View examples featuring "HERMITAGE EN DAUPHINE", as printed to underside rim, depicting structures on a hillside above the Rhone River. Additional marks to underside include an impressed eagle with shield encircled with "E. WOOD BURSLEM / SEMI CHINA / WARRANTED", "11", and "14". Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem, England; and other. Circa 1825. 11 1/2" x 9 1/8" to 17" x 13 3/8".

Condition

Hunters with dogs example mostly undamaged, except having a flake to rim underside and some short scattered scratches from use; Fonthill Abbey with radial rim crack to upper right and chip to rim underside; one Hermitage en Dauphine example with curved hairline to well, primarily visible to underside only due to decoration, remaining example having moderate old glued repair; most having scattered wear including short scratches.
