STAMPED "S RISLEY", NORWICH, CONNECTICUT DECORATED STONEWARE JUG, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, ovoid form with squared mouth, applied strap handle, Albany-slip glazed interior. Brushed and slip-trailed cobalt floral decoration to front. Sidney Risley (1814-1875), Norwich, CT. Mid 19th century. 10 7/8" HOA.
Condition
Having a hairline crack extending from base to medial body, some roughness to mouth, probably as made, and a few green paint drips. Manufacturing flaws including kiln kiss to front lower half, as made.
