VIRGINIA CIVIL WAR NEWSPAPERS INCLUDING STONEWALL JACKSON MOURNING ISSUES, LOT OF EIGHT, comprising four black-border issues announcing Stonewall Jackson's death: The Sentinel Daily, Richmond, May 11, 1863; Daily Richmond Examiner, May 11, 1863; Richmond Whig and Public Advertiser, May 12, 1863; and the Daily Republican, Lynchburg, May 12, 1863; a May 13, 1863 issue of the Daily Richmond Examiner reporting on Jackson's body lying in state; a July 18, 1861 issue of the Daily Richmond Enquirer reporting on "A Battle Near Manassas / Great Slaughter of Yankees; and three issues of the Daily Republican, Lynchburg dated May 14, 1862, January 23, 1863, and March 26, 1865. Together with five other Virginia newspapers dating from 1855 to 1861. Fourteen (14) pieces total.
Catalogue Note: Most issues with Deyerle family names inscribed at top margin.
Condition
Most in good to very good condition, Manassas issue with loss to back page, some others with minor losses/tears, some spotting.
