VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S STENCILED STONEWARE JUGS, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each semi-ovoid form with plain mouth and strap handle, Albany-slip glazed interior. Each cobalt stenciled "E. B. TAYLOR / Richmond, Va.", one having additional "2" gallon capacity mark surrounded by decorative stencils. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 11" and 12 3/4" HOA.
Condition
"2" gallon example having reconstructed handle, otherwise undamaged; smaller example having a moderate chip to rim painted white with scattered white paint flecks to body.
