VIRGINIA WALNUT HANGING SPICE BOX, dovetailed and nailed case with shaped back, slant top having hinged lid concealing an open interior, above a singular drawer with dovetailed construction and original dividers, retaining likely original brass knob. Poplar secondary wood. Retains a cleaned surface with warm color. Probably Shenandoah Valley. Mid 19th century. 17" HOA.
Provenance: From an Albemarle Co., VA collection.
Very good overall condition with minor wear, a few age cracks including one at base of back board and to edge of one base board.
