WEST VIRGINIA STENCILED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with slight shoulder, flat-top slightly rounded rim, beaded neck ring, Albany-slip glazed interior. Stenciled cobalt "KNOTTS. SWINDLER & CO / PALATINE / W. VA", additional decorative ornament to middle. 1870-1900. 9 1/2" H, 5 7/8" D rim.
Provenance: Property from the estate of Clarence and Coralena Smith, Romney, WV.
Undamaged. Manufacturing flaws including stone pop to interior, as made.
