WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA STENCILED STONEWARE ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, comprising an approximately one-gallon ovoid-form jug with strap handle, and an approximately half-gallon capacity cylindrical-form jar with beaded neck ring. Stenciled cobalt decorations include jar with "From / James Hamilton & Co. / Greensboro. Pa." and jug having "JAS. HAMILTON & / CO. / GREENSBORO / PA.", additional foliate decorative ornaments. 1860-1880. 10 3/4" HOA.
Provenance: Property from the estate of Clarence and Coralena Smith, Romney, WV.

Condition

Mostly undamaged, except jar with minor flake to base edge and jug with chip to handle. Firing flaws including jug with kiln kisses, as made.
